Elk Mountain

Elk Mountain lies east of Snake Mountain. A careful look will reveal the hiking trail leading from the parking lot to the summit that resembles a power line cut. Elk mountain is a newly established state park.

Snake Mountain

On August 16, my son and I went on circuit hike of Snake Mountain to the north of Boone, North Carolina. I noticed few pictures of the area posted, so I thought I'd put a few on a site. It was a fantastic day with brilliant clouds and a slight haze. As a result the pictures we took amazed my relatives.

The hike began at Rich Mountain Gap between Snake Mountain and Rich Mountain [The Tater Hill is on the southern part of Rich Mountain].
